The 2015 Mid East Racing Hare Scramble Series kicked off this year at the same venue as last year's round 1, HRD Motorsports Complex in Gaston, SC. This was a two day event with practice rounds held on Saturday for bikes and quads and racing on Sunday. We headed out early Saturday morning and stopped by our shop to load up the truck with X-Tream Clean goodies and made the 2 hour ride down

I-77 South to just past Columbia, SC where HRD is located.

This same weekend, and only 30 miles down the road, was the National Enduro Series round 2 taking place in Pelion, SC for the Sandlapper National Enduro. With these two events so close, many of the top riders that registered for the Sandlapper event stopped by HRD for a little warm-up practice before the big race on Sunday. The weather for Saturday was perfect, although leading up to Saturday was a bit dismal to say the least. On Wednesday, in Charlotte, we received 4 inches of snow and some rain the following day, but fortunately HRD only received a little rain leading up to Saturday. HRD is a sand track facility and drains pretty well.

But, Sunday was a different story altogether. Late Saturday night the rains came and temperatures dropped into the low 30's so we woke up to a mess Sunday morning. The weather forecast for both days heading into the weekend didn't look so hot to start with so we were concerned with how the turn-out would be for race day. The numbers for the Pee Wee bike and Youth ATV classes were the only ones that lacked the normal rider count Mid East Racing has been experienced that last few years. Youth bike, bike and ATV classes were very full and had good numbers despite the weather.
